Monday the U.N. Security Council officially agreed to condemn North Korea’s April 5th missile launch which was in violation of 2006 sanctions.  In response, North Korea said it was boycotting six-party negotiations and resuming its nuclear arms program.

How Provocative!

Even without support for an actual resolution, the U.N. Security Council managed to pass a non-binding presidential statement to demonstrate the unanimous disapproval for North Korea’s violation.

How could the North Korea be so arrogant, dismissive, and even derisive?

North Korea Threatens U.N. Security Council, How Provocative!

Celebrating its recent rocket launch in defiance of the “international” community’s opposition, North Korea had new warnings for the U.N. Security Council.

In New York, North Korea’s U.N. ambassador, Pak Tok Hun warned:

“And if the Security Council, they take any kind of steps whatever, we will consider this infringes upon the sovereignty of our country and next option will be ours,” he said.

According to Reuters, North Korea further threatened the U.N. Security Council with boycotting six-way nuclear disarmament talks, restarting its nuclear program,  and taking military action on anyone who tries to retrieve rocket debris.

Provocative acts, now provocative threats… oh boy, North Korea… you’re in big kimchi.

North Korea Rocket Launch to Obama and World: Na Na

Today, North Korea went ahead and launched its rocket which The U.S., Japan, and South Korea believe was a cover a long-range missile test.

I’m sure it was a mistake though.  I mean the international community was very clear in its opposition to the launch.  North Korea must not have gotten the memo, right?

Thankfully, upon hearing this news the U.N. Security Council immediately gathered for an emergency session to gossip about the “provocative act.”

“Did you see the missile launch?  Was it as provocative as I’ve heard?”

“Oh, yes… it was quite provocative.  Quite provocative indeed.”

“Do you think North Korea just didn’t get the memo?  Should we send another?”

“Now, hold on… we don’t want to be overbearing or provocative ourselves.   That might send the wrong message.  Let’s just discuss the provocative act some more before we jump to any decision.  Agreed?”

“Aye!”

It was perhaps the most productive U.N. Security Council session we’ve seen in some time.  I’m sure North Korea understands just how serious the international community is now.  Boy that was close.
